What an amazing God we serve! I was able to labor at home for only 3 hours...we took a walk, sang praises to God, and spoke God's promises over the labor. I knew from scripture that, "Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward." Understanding that bearing a child in the family of God is a GOOD thing, created by God, and can be an amazing experience! In Exodus 1:19 it says, "The Hebrew women were not like the Egyptian women; for they are lively (vigorous, strong, robust) and give birth before the midwives come to them." Reading this I talked with God, bringing His word back to Him, and with the understanding that those who are believers in the Kingdom of God, will have special favor during childbirth because it is a holy event. For His scripture tells us in 1 Timothy 2:15, "Yet a woman will be brought safely through childbirth if she and her husband continue to live in faith and love and growing holiness, with habitual self-restraint." I believed God would grant us favor during this time.
I also knew that God had proclaimed this promise to us, "No Good thing shall He withhold from those who walk uprightly", Psalm 84. With all these promises I knew, if we asked God to perform what His word says, and if we believed with all our heart - without seeing (which is faith), He would do what His word proclaims...because it's impossible for God to lie!
As we came home from our short walk we decided that it was time to go to the hospital, as I was contracting every 3 minutes at this point. When I opened the car door to get in....my water burst! The next contraction I felt my body begin to push out the baby! I told everyone I was going back inside to have the baby in the living room! Patrick and Sherie called the paramedics for back up assistance. When they arrived I told them I wasn't going to get in the ambulance...that I was going to have my baby at home. No one wanted to deliver my baby :) Finally at much debate, I agreed to get in the ambulance (after I tried to reason with them about not lying down)...I arrived at the hospital where a really sweet young girl, very hastily, wheeled me to Labor & Delivery. I tried telling her that I wanted to walk - that I didn't want to sit down in the wheel chair, she very politely told me to get in the wheel chair, as she practically ran to our destination. I arrived in a room, and fifteen minutes later, with only 3 pushes, Nevan Isaiah was born with a VERY fast delivery, with no complications, no medical intervention, and of course, no fear or terror (actually there was more humor than anything else!) I was holding my sweet little guy with a beautiful head of jet black hair! Patrick says he was born with hair gel cause it styles so perfectly. Let me say I was SPEECHLESS...without words to describe the amazing experience I had! I was without words!
God is FAITHFUL! Hebrews 10:23 says, "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful!" My birth experience with Nevan has been a faith walk like none other! I count it all JOY!
Nevan was right on time. He was not late. When God called his name, He didn't bother hanging around. He came out just as God had called him, quick, easy, with no complications! A true miracle, a true blessing, and an amazing experience...I would do again!
