Our family is being refined. Just as the Bible speaks of his children going through the refiner's fire to be purified as silver and gold...we have felt the fire...and now we come through with hopes that our Maker can see his reflection in us!
I've been going over some verses lately...and transformed...yes! In 1 Thess 5:23 the Word says, "Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." Notice here the order these are written. First SPIRIT, then SOUL, and BODY is last. Have you noticed the world puts the body first...we eat all kinds of rich and delightful foods, we obsess over our body images, we focus on the appearance of ourselves - what we will wear! I've come to grips that I have also fallen short in this area...whoa.
Then Jesus speaks about this very issue in Matt chapter 6.....
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
I believe these things of the flesh, the food, the clothing, the drink....they can cause our relationship with the almighty Father to become murky, distant, vague....
When was the last time you gave up a meal to become LOVESICK with the Father of Creation?

In contemporary Christianity there is an essential difference between belief and faith. Our religious beliefs are the visible expression of our faith, our personal commitment to the person of Jesus. However, if the Christian beliefs inherited from our family and passed on to us by our church tradition are not grounded in a shattering, life-changing experience of Jesus as the Christ, then the chasm between our credal statements and our faith-experience widens and our witness is worthless. The gospel will persuade no one unless it has so convicted us that we are transformed by it - B. Manning

- My flesh is weak but my spirit is willing. Jesus thinks I'm beautiful. Knowing Him is eternal life for me. When I die, all I have to take is love.
