New House!

Here is our story about how we moved into our BRAND NEW home!

We have been praying about possibly buying a townhome or moving to a more effecient home for quite some time now. The little home on 24th Ave was very inefficient and it seemed that the electric bill would get higher each month (probably because all the heat escaped from the window cracks, etc.). We have been praying about our situation. Sometimes while on my morning runs I would cut through a new townhome development just 1/2 mile north on 6th st. called "OakGate Condos" they are brand new condos and sometimes I would pray, "God I would really love to live here, show me how we could live here!"

....and so the story goes that because the housing market is in such a horrible slump...the developer of OakGate Condos stopped building and only built phase 1, but had originally planned on building phase II & phase III.

One day I went out on a limb and told Patrick that I was going over to talk to someone about the townhomes. The realtor showed me the BEAUTIFUL brand new homes with 2 bedrooms 2 1/2 baths, new kitchens, dishwasher, and washer and dryer INSIDE the house, garage w/ door opener, and little front porches! She explained to me the company had not been successful at selling them so they began to leasing them out of desperation. Charging only a whopping $975 a month. Which was way out of our price range. I thanked the realtor and I asked her if she thought they would consider renting for a lower amount. She said she didn't know that I would need to contact the management company.

Me, being extremely tenacious, and having great determination in knowing there had to be a way to live in one of those brand new condos, decided to write an endearing letter to AMJ Inc., describing our current financial situation, and telling them a little about ourselves. I included our sweet Christmas picture in the letter as well. I told them how we are currently living in a home that has been a blessing but that we are interested in moving to a more effecient home. I also asked at the bottom if they would be interested in giving our family a scholarship for allowing us to live in one of the condos, and that we would be available to help with looking after the grounds, etc.

You would not believe how God works! When I went to the AMJ Inc. website to see who I should address the letter to.....up popped a picture of a man who comes into the nursery all the time!!! I couldn't believe it! He has a little boy who is almost the same age as Luke and I never knew he was employed with this corporation.

On Wednesday, I got a call from the management for OakGate condos asking some "preliminary info" When would we be able to move in? How much could we afford...if anything? How long would we plan on staying there??
Two days later I recieved a call back from Karen, she's the manager for OakGate, and she said that the owner of AMJ had received our letter and approved your request! We are currently living in a brand new home, but paying the same as we were previously! http://www.oakgatecondos.com/

I give God the glory for the abundance that he has given us! This is our "brand new" start in so many ways! God is always on our side...even when sometimes it doesn't feel like it!

In contemporary Christianity there is an essential difference between belief and faith. Our religious beliefs are the visible expression of our faith, our personal commitment to the person of Jesus. However, if the Christian beliefs inherited from our family and passed on to us by our church tradition are not grounded in a shattering, life-changing experience of Jesus as the Christ, then the chasm between our credal statements and our faith-experience widens and our witness is worthless. The gospel will persuade no one unless it has so convicted us that we are transformed by it - B. Manning
